Considered to be one of the best varieties of Fig for cooler climates, the Brown Turkey is originally from the middle eastern countries but is one of the only ones that is fully hardy.

The Brown Turkey is a highly ornamental shrub which will product large, glossy leaves in the spring and summer months which if grown in the right position will completely cover a wall and produce an abundant crop of brown skinned fruit with red flesh. This crop is fully edible and will be produced multiple times a year. During winter, leaves will turn a red-brown colour which looks amazing on a wall to provide a beautiful display of colour on into the winter months until they wall.

The Brown Turkey is a great shrub for any garden but needs to be planted carefully with a contained area so roots don’t spread and it must be planted on a south facing wall for best results. Grows best in fertile well drained soils and shelter from cold winds.
