About This Tree
Introduced from Ohio in the 1980s, this variation of the Chinese Dogwood gets it’s name from its magnificent display of flowers which from a distance looks like many bright stars.
The Milky way has a very bight green foliage during the spring and summer months which is also whenever the amazing flower display appears. During this the tree is an amazing sight and will brighten anyone’s garden as the end of summer approaches and autumn starts to come with darker evenings. During the Autumn time, the bright green foliage turns into this magnificent display of red and orange. During the spring period, these small berries can be found on the Milky Way which will continue to grow bigger and towards the end of summer will ripen on the tree which will be very popular among birds. These berries will then fall off with the winds during Autumn if not eaten beforehand by birds.
A beautiful addition to any garden to provide a unique garden display right from spring until Autumn. Prefers acidic and well drained soils, may be difficult to grow on soils greater than PH 7.
